About Helene Creager
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I bring a comprehensive understanding of wellness challenges, dynamics of personal change, and the importance of building inner strengths.
My passion is to help people be on their own side so that they thrive and take care of both their mental and physical wellness.
This has led me to gain the information, practices, and other resources that will help you build the capacity to not only handle life’s challenges but also enjoy your life to the fullest.
But my journey towards promoting wellness began long before that.
I have dedicated over 30 years integrating criminal justice and treatment services. 23 years of that were with the United States Probation in The Central District of California as a Supervisory U.S. Probation Officer. Before that, I spent 10 years with the Los Angeles County Probation Department.
My focus was on staff and community supervision growth, witnessing positive changes in many lives. I oversaw treatment services and implemented successful drug court programs, emphasizing evidence-based practices for effective supervision and support.
I take pride in initiating the Staff Training Aimed at Reducing Re-Arrest (STARR) program in my district, enhancing probation officers’ skills and reducing re-arrest rates while fostering compassion. Additionally, I am a founding member of the National Wellness Committee, prioritizing self-care and mental resilience for probation officers. I also led the Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Team, providing crucial support for those experiencing traumatic incidents at work.
Beyond my district, I collaborated with the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts (AO) on nationwide initiatives to reduce recidivism rates, advocating for evidence-based practices. Before U.S. Probation, I gained diverse experience at the Los Angeles County Probation Department, understanding the challenges individuals face in rehabilitation.
My career has been fulfilling, inspiring countless individuals within and beyond the U.S. Probation system. Through training and advocacy, I’ve shared expertise on wellness, resilience, and positive life changes. I’m grateful for the opportunities to make a difference and remain committed to empowering others for a fulfilling life.
I am committed to my own growth and development. I meditate daily and participate in practice sessions throughout the week. I love the supportive community I have through these practice sessions and with the alumni of the Stanford Applied Compassion Training (ACT) program. We meet regularly to share teachings, resources, and our personal growth journey.
My continuous learning also includes lots of reading, listening to podcasts, teaching, and participating in workshops and courses. It is truly personally rewarding and fulfilling for me to develop myself and share skills and practices with others.
